Traffic Speed Monitoring

Speed Monitoring on The Street

Since December 2017, the Parish Council purchased a Speed Indicator Device (SID) in partnership with the village of Whatfield. This is a part of the work being done by the Parish Council to reduce the speed of traffic passing through the village.

The SID is shared in roughly 4 week periods, spending 4 weeks in Monks Eleigh, and then the following 4 weeks in Whatfield. During the time it spends in Monks Eleigh, it will be mounted on the specially installed posts on the Eastern and Western approaches. This is to even out the data to allow us to gather a more meaningful average of the speeds of the passing vehicles.
